Throughout the year, the Palace of Versailles honours the creator of the formal garden. Exhibitions, contemporary art, restorations, festivals and shows are just some of the hundreds of events that await you when you visit the gardens of Versailles, his ultimate masterpiece.

 

The "Grande Finale" of the year will be the exhibition "André Le Nôtre en perspective, 1613-2013" [André Le Nôtre in perspective, 1613-2013], which gives a surprising new insight into the man, his art and his influence.

In 2013, the Château de Vaux le Vicomte celebrates France's most famous gardener.  The estate will open its doors to garden lovers, walkers and dreamers, taking them on a journey to the heart of France's first formal garden.

 

A new exhibition entitled "Le Nôtre, l’œuvre fondatrice du jardin à la française" [Le Nôtre, the original formal garden], early opening hours and guided walks will offer an alternative insight into the classic garden model that was to provide inspiration for gardens throughout Europe.
